FAQ

Students are encouraged to make up classes with their regular teacher. If this is not possible, classes can be made up with other teachers in an appropriate level class. All classes must be made up within the session.

Yes, and no. We believe that the best way for a student’s yoga foundation to grow and to develop is to attend class consistently with the same teacher. That way, the teacher gets to know you, your abilities and challenges, and you will benefit from a progressive, structured learning environment. Registering for a full session also gives you the lowest price per class, a discount on any additional drop-ins that you may do during the session, and access to the Early Morning Practice.

If attending a full session is truly not possible for you, we do allow drop-ins.

We have a very flexible make-up policy! If you miss one of your classes, you can make-up that class within the same session and at your level or a level lower. Ideally, you would attend a class with your own teacher, but if that’s not possible, you can attend any class that is appropriate for you. You can also do make ups in anticipation of missing classes in the future (within the same session).

All classes expire at the end of each session, so make sure you do your make-ups before the end of the session!

You can, but you don’t have to. But do make sure you check in with the teacher at the beginning of class you’re making up in so that they can talk to you about anything they would need to know about you. If you have a significant restriction (for example, if you have a heart condition or you’re pregnant), it is best to let us know in advance so we can let the teacher know before you attend.

You can go here and register online with a Mastercard of a Visa. Or, you can come to the studio and the teacher will help you register and pay with the same credit cards, cash, or a cheque.

Yes! You can start classes anytime. You can call us or email us to ask about whether it would be better to register for a full session (or a percentage of it) or to attend by drop-in until the end of the session.

You’re never too stiff to practice yoga! We work with all levels of strength and flexibility, and the only thing that needs to be flexible is your mind!

First of all, welcome! We’re glad you chose The Yoga Space!

Make sure that you wear something you will be comfortable in that doesn’t restrict your movement—most students wear tights or shorts and a t-shirt, and we practice and learn with bare feet. Due to scent sensitivities, please do not wear perfume or cologne to class.

It’s best to eat as far as possible before your class starts (usually 3 hours if that is possible). If you really must eat before class, please have something small, like fruit or small yogurt.

The studio is fully equipped and has yoga mats – although you are also welcome to bring your own if you prefer. The only thing you really need to bring is an open mind!

Make sure you check in with the teacher at the beginning of class to let them know your yoga background (or lack thereof!) and any restrictions or challenges you may have.

For most common restrictions (sensitive back, sore knees etc.) Iyengar yoga teachers are very experienced in finding modifications to poses to accommodate restrictions. You will be in good hands. Please let us know if you have a serious health condition as that may require more attention.

Unless there is a class that finishes right when your class starts, the studio will generally be open about 15 minutes before the class starts, so feel free to come early, change, and settle in. Our classes start on time and we appreciate it when you’re there and ready to go. Of course, it happens to all of us that sometimes you are a few minutes late. Please just come to class if you are only a few minutes late—it’s better that you’re there than not!

Please leave your shoes, clothing, purses, bags, and water bottles in the entrance area where the cubbies are. We never walk on the studio floors with shoes.

Your cell phone must be turned to silent, or better yet, turned off. There’s nothing worse than trying to relax in savasana and hearing a phone vibrating. You can leave your cell phone in the entrance area with your shoes, clothing and bags.

We have students in our community who have sensitivities to scent. Please wash off any perfume or cologne you may be wearing before coming to class.

The studio is one big room with no separate reception area. You are welcome to come and check out the studio before a class begins or after the class ends, although be aware that when classes run back-to-back, the door will be locked until the first class ends and the transition to the next class can be a bit hectic! Teachers also often lock the door when teaching to reduce distractions for the students.

So, make sure that if you plan to drop-by, you’ve checked the schedule to make sure the studio has some time before the class begins when it will be open.

No refunds are given after the first class. A credit towards classes for the next session will be considered with a doctor's note. $10 administration fee applies.

????If a student cannot attend any classes due a medical reason, we will place your remaining classes “on hold” until you are cleared by your medical professional to return to class. Otherwise, we do not give refunds.

By appointment only. Please contact the studio to discuss arrangements for a private class.

There are a few options! To get the most current news, you can sign up for our newsletter, and follow us on Facebook, Google+, and Instagram. Your teacher will regularly make announcements about special events or workshops. And we will put our events on our News page on this website and on our notice board outside the studio.
