Home Props

You don’t need fancy props to practice Iyengar yoga at home.

For example, you can use a regular belt, scarf, or bathrobe tie as a strap. You can tightly roll up a few firm blankets or towels (tied on each end with a belt) to simulate a bolster. You don’t need a wooden or foam brick for standing poses, but can use a stepping stool or a coffee table. Backbends over a chair can be easily practiced on a bed, holding your head in your hands.

Check out some of the ideas below and let your creativity soar—just make sure whatever you are using is stable.
